Video: Look who's walking!

Norris has a pending adoption, Nabb's home is on the horizon, and I have my work cut out for me!  Norris leaves me tomorrow, and that will leave me some more time to sculpt Nabb a bit before he leaves.  Norris is leaving as a dog who can now walk on a leash, has been crate trained, and has been groomed.

I must now start crate training Nabb, and I am going to turn up his obedience training until he finds his forever home.  I love these boys very much, and their "forever" families are lucky people!

Norris & Nabb with video!

Currently the world of doggie fosters here, On the Urban Farm, has been a whirlwind!  Meet Norris and Nabb.  They came to us from Tri State Collie Rescue and are currently available for adoption through them. (Norris has a pending adoption!)  They came into rescue due to a change in living situation for their previous family, and have been here for a week.

What a week it has been!  They arrived last Wednesday with no knowledge about how to walk on a leash, or how to function socially.  (The good news is that they are super sweet and fast learners.)  We have been working nightly on visiting the outside world, and have been taking in the sights of the city.  I am so proud of them and the progress that they have made.

I posted a video of our socialization session from tonight.  Enjoy!

When good chickens go bad.....

Over the summer I was in the coop collecting eggs, and two of my hens jumped up on my shoulder.  Being the ever so dedicated blogger that I am, I decided to pull out my iPhone and take a picture of these two hens sitting on me. We look real happy in the picture above, however that all changes in the blink of an eye!  Please note the brown chicken (Ashley) staring at me.  I decide to do a little video just to say hello to my blog followers, and I capture quite the surprise.  I noticed in the seconds leading up to the video that Ashley is staring at my eye, so I start guarding my face just in case she pecks me in the eye.  Last laugh is on me...

My friend Jeffrey begged me to put this video up, and he swears it is pee your pants, snort coffee out of your nose funny.  With the being said, please put your coffee down before watching this video!

Epic Fail: Ex-Husband bites the dust!

Tonight we went to the horse barn to stack hay, and while we were there I decided I would hop on Mia bareback and go for a little pony ride.  Needless to say Steve (the ex-husband) was trying to tell me how to ride the horse, and after I got off he decided he was going to show me how it should be done.  Epic fail!

Poor Steve!
(No worries folks, nothing was harmed in this video.  Well, except Steve's pride...)

Autographs and a Fountain Coke

This morning was supposed to start off uneventful enough, however as soon as my alarm sounded I knew that was not going to be a reality.  I was running very late taking Katzya to school, so I quickly threw a sweatshirt over my pajamas, a headband in my hair, and drove her to school in all my glory.  If you can picture this, my hair resembled a Brillo pad that had been caught in the garbage disposal.  It was a hot mess! I had no time to brush my teeth, and I was wearing pajama pants that were adorned with some outlandish cartoon characters on them.  I was honestly a fair candidate for one of those People of Walmart photos.

After dropping Katzya off at school I decided I would run past McDonald's for breakfast in order to speed up my morning routine.  As I pulled up to the speaker one of the women that I have known for years says, "I didn't know you were famous!"  I laughed and was a bit confused.  At the window, another woman said: "Hey, are you Emily?"  I confirmed that I was indeed Emily, and was slightly confused as to how she knew my name.  (I am still half asleep at this point and the fountain Coke has not kicked in yet...)  She excitedly tells me that she saw me on television Thursday night, and she was very excited about the blue eggs that I was talking about.  I immediately knew that the urban farm documentary they had taped here at my house must have been on the air!  I thanked the woman for her kind words and drove to the next window where another woman exclaimed, "It is you!  Can I have your autograph?!"  Of course, like the half asleep but still quick witted person that I am, I quickly replied: "Seriously?!"  I realized right away she was serious and signed the paper that she handed me.  Stellar!  This is how I look the moment people determine that I am worthy of signing their napkins?!

For those of you that have asked, and those of you that just want a good laugh I have added a link to my video interview below.  (Click on the picture of the rock, Mom!)  Minus my hair, I think it turned out pretty well....

Video and show credits go to Whitney Davis at KIT-TV.

The Adventures of Ziggy: Charleston Falls

Hi it's Ziggy here!  I went hiking with my mommy this week.   We hiked 5 miles and it was so hot out, but I had a great time.  We do this thing called letterboxing and we were on a mission to plant 8 boxes.  (If you have any human puppies and you like to hike you should give this hobby a try.)

Along the way I met several other doggie friends and we went off trail a bit and startled a doe and her fawn.  It took me a minute to realize what those big brown things were, and then it was on!  Oh, and they left behind these little round, heavenly smelling things that were about the size of jellybeans.  I loved the way they smelled so much I rolled all over them and then I smelled heavenly as well!  My mommy said something about me smelling terrible, but you know parents.... they know NOTHING!

At the end of the hike my mommy tried to get me to wade through the creek.  Ummm, there was no chance I was getting in that water!  It was too much like a bath and I did not want to clean off my Perfume O' Deer Poo.  My mommy took a video.  I think you will find it most impressive how well I have her trained!  She realized I meant it when I told her "no getting wet!", and she came back across and carried me to dry land.  Good human!  Well, you all behave until my next adventure.  I will try to behave as well, but I am making no promises!

Woof an Kisses,
           Ziggy

Hanging with my peeps!

A short video of the girls enjoying themselves this morning before it became too hot.  Featured guest is Dora the chicken....
